The Advantages of CBG Flowers and Why They Are So Important?

In CBDFlowers.co we usually focus on CBD, THC and Delta-8 THC, but there are over 100 other cannabinoids – many, if not all, with suspected therapeutic potential – that scientists generally know very little about.

One cannabinoid that we do have a few studies on is cannabigerol, or CBG. Known as the “mother” of all cannabinoids, cannabigerol is widely predicted to be the next big trend in the hemp & cannabis industry. But what do we actually know about CBG flowers? What are the medical benefits of smoking CBG flowers?

We know that CBG is the precursor to the main cannabinoids, and it’s been rightfully dubbed the “Mother of Cannabinoids”. CBG has many potential medicinal benefits including: neuroprotectant, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory. It’s also believed to help treat gastrointestinal disorders and glaucoma – although more research is need to fully verify these statements.

We also know that CBG Flowers are the newest trend of the year and that are taking the cannabis industry by storm. Why CBG Flowers are important and what makes them so special?

What is CBG and why CBG Flowers are so important?

Since cannabigerol is usually only present in cannabis in very small amounts – normally less than 1 percent – it’s considered a minor cannabinoid. CBG is important for another reason though, and that is its ability to synthesize other major cannabinoids. Because of this, CBGA (cannabigerolic acid) has been appropriately nicknamed “The Mother of Cannabinoids”.

CBGA is a direct line to three main cannabinoids: tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), and cannabichromenic acid (CBCA). Once exposed to heat or light during a process referred to as decarboxylation, THCA, CBDA, and CBCA will shed their carboxyl acid group and become THC, CBD, and CBC, respectively

If we’re following the pattern above, CBGA should break down to CBG, but that only happens in select strains. Most of the time, CBGA is immediately converted to THCA, CBDA, or CBCA. This means two things: first, strains in which the CBGA converts to CBG are rare; and second, strains that are high in CBG are low in THC because of the way these compounds are synthesized.

CBG’s unique position as the precursor cannabinoid makes it of particular interest for researchers, investors, and consumers alike. To get more flowers with these high levels of CBG, breeders are practicing plant cross-breeding and other forms of genetic manipulation.

Ways To Use CBG

There are a few select CBG products on market today, but as you already know, it’s still uncommon to see hemp/cannabis products advertised for their ‘CBG content’. At the moment, the most popular way to experience this cannabinoid is by smoking or vaping flowers that are high in this cannabinoid.

Because this is a relatively new trend, knowing where to find these flowers can be a challenge. Of course, you want to find a company that has good quality buds for a reasonable price. You also want them to be reliable and have good customer service should an issue arise.

That’s a rather tall order in today’s market, which is why we’ve put together a couple of articles to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
