What is Delta 8 and How Does it Feel?
To understand the difference between Delta-8 THC and Delta-9 THC, you’ll have to think back to chemistry class, which admittedly, was never my best subject. However, it’s important to know that when it comes to any compound, all you have to do is change one molecule and that can leave you with an entirely different substance.
Such is the case with O2 vs O3 – both are oxygen molecules held together by covalent bonds. The former, 2 oxygen molecules, is the oxygen we breathe to stay alive. The latter, 3 oxygen molecules, is a highly reactive gas that can cause serious health complications. This also applies to H2O, which we know as water. If we add just one more oxygen atom then we get H202, which is hydrogen peroxide, and drinking that will kill you.
Delta-8 THC only has some minor chemical differences from Delta-9, as well as some differences in effects. It is psychoactive, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, but it’s much milder than Delta 9. If you’re a regular marijuana user, you likely won’t feel very strong effects from Delta 8.
It’s mildly psychoactive, although it’s less intense than D9. Delta-8 is only present in trace amounts in cannabis plants, so to utilize it, this compound needs to be extracted from hemp and isolated. This is important to remeber, as only Hemp-derived Delta 8 is legal. Lucky for us, now days, most of Delta 8 THC products are coming from hemp, so that is not an issue anymore…
As far as medical benefits of Delta 8 THC, there are many of particular interest. Numerous studies dating back to the early 1970s indicate that Delta-8 has extremely powerful effects on the immune system. It has also been observed shrinking tumors and completely eliminating nausea in patients who were sick from other medications. Much of the research was conducted by Prof. Raphael Mechoulam and his team.
Different Types of Delta-8 THC Products
Although vaping is the most popular consumption method, there are way more options than just vape. Just like with CBD and regular, Delta-9 THC, you can find many products infused with Delta-8. Check out our list below.
Delta-8 THC Vape Cartridges
This is by far the most popular way to consume Delta-8. When it comes to Delta-8, it needs to be extracted in order to be utilized. There are hemp flowers infused with Delta-8, and they’re wonderful, but vaping the extract is the most common and preferred way to use it. You can find vape carts made from numerous different popular strains, with different flavors and effects.

Disposable Vape Pen
As you may have guessed, these are like your standard basic vape pens that you would find for about $20 at a head shop… but they’re disposable. They come with a pre-filled cartridge attached and once you’re done with the contents, you throw out the whole pen.
Dab Pen
Although very similar to a standard vape, it is slightly different and used for dabbing concentrates like wax and terpsolate infused with Delta 8. It’s used to vaporize your concentrates rather than smoking them and exposing yourself to the unwanted carcinogens.

Flowers
This is something new and innovative: top-shelf indoor hemp flowers treated with Delta 8 THC distillate. Because Delta 8 is only present in trace amounts in flowers, the buds need to be infused with Delta 8. These strains typically have high levels of both cannabinoids, roughly 15 to 20 percent of both CBD and Delta 8 THC.

Nano Drops
An industry first, a product that incorporates Delta 8 THC in a powerful water soluble nano tincture and beverage additive. Nano technology is used to break down the cannabis molecule to make them small enough to mix into liquids.
Tincture
Highly concentrated tinctures and oils are a popular choice when taking cannabinoids therapeutically. They’re great for anyone who wants to get the full benefits of cannabis compounds but doesn’t want to smoke, for health reasons for personal. Lately, we have seen many new CBD:Delta-8 (1:1) tinctures, allowing you to experience a balanced and rewarding formuls!

Topicals
Delta-8 topicals are quite new and not very easy to find, but if you get your hands on some (literally), they are amazing and really do wonders for the skin. I’ve had the pleasure of trying some samples that left my skin feeling soft, supple, and refreshed.
Edibles
Chocolate, gummies, and other sweet treats are typically what you’ll find when it comes to Delta-8 THC edibles. In my opinion, the effects of Delta-8 THC edibles are almost exactly the same as Delta-9. They create a body high, help with sleep, and are great for pain management.

Softgels
Cannabinoid softgels have been popular for quite some time now. Usually they are filled with CBD (cannabidiol) or CBG (cannabigerol), but a few companies now have Delta-8 THC softgels, filled with 25mg of D8. It’s a convenient and incredibly discreet way to get your daily dose of Delta-8 THC, no matter where you are.
